  • 43 valuable numerical number plates
  • 31 NSW three, four, five and six-digit plates
  • 10 Victorian and two Queensland plates
  • NSW motorcycle number plate ‘900’

Forty-three numerical number plates are already exciting investors and collectors in Shannons Summer Timed Online Auction from February 22 – March 1.

Eleven of the 31 NSW plates and four of the 10 from Victoria are sought-after three-digit numerical plates, starting from ’362’ in NSW and ‘244’ in Victoria.

The two Queensland lots are both limited-release ‘Q’ plates – both offered with ‘no reserve’.

There is also a very rare single NSW numerical motorcycle plate – ‘900’.

Numeric number plates have recently experienced some of the greatest investment growth in the classic vehicle market, with some low numbers and special numerical combinations more than doubling in value over the past 2-3 years.

The release of the NSW numeric plates is a continuation of a long-standing and fruitful relationship between Shannons and the NSW Roads & Maritime Services that commenced in 2006.

The lowest number of the 10 Victorian number plates in the auction is ‘244’ which is expected to sell for $160,000-$240,000.

The most valuable plates in the auction are the 15 three-digit NSW plates ranging numerically from ‘362’ to ‘981’. Each is expected conservatively to sell in the $150,000-$250,000 range, but with the potential for some of the better and lower combinations to do much better. Their Victorian three-digit equivalents– ‘244’ to ‘916’ – are each expected to bring $160,000- $240,000.

The numerically-appealing New South Wales number plate ‘143143’ is expected to sell for $20,000-$35,000.

The most desirable four-digit NSW plate is expected to be the ‘lucky ‘8868’ at $70,000-$120,000; the most desirable five-digit NSW plates ‘98898’ and ‘76677’ are each expected to sell for $30,000-$70,000, as is the numerically attractive NSW ‘11114’; while the guiding range for NSW ‘143143’ is $20,000-$35,000.

The rare NSW motorcycle number plate ‘900’ is expected to bring $35,000-$50,000.

The super-rare NSW numerical motorcycle plate ‘900’ is expected to bring $35,000-$50,000.

The Victorian birth-year number plate ‘2010’ is conservatively slated to sell for $60,000-$120,000 in Shannons Timed Summer Online Auction from February 22-March 1, however Shannons believe it could easily bring more.

Meanwhile, the Victorian ‘birth-year’ plate ‘2.010’ is slated to sell for $60,000-$120,000, however given its significance, Shannons believe it could easily bring more.
