Snowy Cruisers Club - Aussie Classics: Classic Restos - Series 45

Fletch travels to the 'Gateway of the Snowy' in Tumut, NSW - to catch up with members of the Snowy Cruisers Car Club. The club has 86 members with 96 vehicles, with no specific make a requirement. There is quite a spread of vehicles from the 50s, 60s, and 70s with a definite Aussie influence. Three enthusiasts join Fletch to discuss their cars and their passion for them. 

First is Daryl with his 1978 HZ Holden One Tonner with a 308 V8 that is the result of a 4-year restoration from a bare chassis. A self-confessed Holden man, Daryl says these one tonners were built for Australia and are very tough. With the closure of Ford and Holden's manufacturing, restoring these older cars is becoming more expensive as parts become challenging to find and the value of these models increasing. 

Rex with his 1968 Ford Mustang Mach 1 sporting a 351 Winsor V8, confesses to not being mechanically inclined whatsoever, it's just the pure pleasure he gets from driving such an iconic car. Rex believes that seeing these cars still on the road, allows younger generations to understand the origins of today's vehicles. 

Now it's not often that Fletch can say, he hasn't seen one of these before, but Deon's 1969 Toyota Crown Ute is one. In original condition with only 65,000 miles on the clock, with 2 litre, 4 cylinder engine with 4-speed column shift. Introduced by Toyota to enter the Australian Ute market, the Crown was a full-size ute with large tray to match the HQ Holden and Fords of the day. The vehicle was sold new by the Tumut Toyota dealer and in Deon's ownership for the last 10 years.
