Shannons US Trip - The Final Leg: Classic Restos - Series 39

Next stop on the Shannons 2018 trip is St Louis, where Fletch gets to see the legendary 62/63 Chrysler Turbine car on display at the National Museum of Transportation. Mike who is a volunteer restorer for the museum has a story that goes back to when he was 10 years of age and first saw a Chrysler Turbine car outside his home, many years later he volunteered at the National Museum of Transportation in St Louis and worked on the restoration of the Turbine car over an 8 year period. Today it is in working condition, Mike shares some interesting facts about the history of this remarkable looking vehicle.
As Fletch says 'If one does not stop, one does not see' so, at one of the many pit stops, we stop at a historic car wrecker, a 2-acre graveyard of old classics many of them worse for wear. Charlie, the owner of 30 years, still loves his old cars. Amongst the backlots, there are AMC Javelins, a Buick Wildcat, a Ford Control Jeep, a Lincoln Mk111, even a Thunderbird to name but a few.
Moving on to Denver Colorado we upsize to the Speedway Auto Wreckers which has been in operation for 50 years with 50 acres of classic wrecks from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Greg, the owner, tells his story and about his own classic collectable a Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS, that he has owned for 38 years.
Fletch chats with Mark from Shannons about the journey with his 1966 Chrysler Monaco having crossed the US from Ohio, travelling through Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Nevada before the final stop in San Francisco at the shippers.
