Isabella & Marcus Foundation Charity Car Show 2020: Classic Restos - Series 43

The Isabella & Marcus Foundation was formed in 2010 to raise money for children with brain cancer. The Charity Car Show began in 2011 with just 70 vehicles. Today it attracts over 700 classic cars and motorcycles, raising $250,000 for the foundation over this time, a great effort by everyone involved. 

One of the classics on display this year is a customised 1972 HQ Holden Wagon. The owner Grant tells the story of purchasing as a wreck with no wheels 3-4 years ago, he went to work on it with no real mechanical experience. As he says, there is no limit to your imagination, and he just went for it. Because he bought it as a wreck, he doesn't feel guilty of destroying a classic HQ, just rebuilding a modified version. 

Next is a big American classic close to Fletch's heart, a 1966 Chrysler New Yorker. The owner James who has imported around 20 of these New Yorkers since 2009, says this particular vehicle was a dealer promotional car and fully optioned. Fletch says you don't appreciate just how exceptionally well built and well-powered these cars are until you drive one. James who imports and sells these cars said everyone says the same thing, and now there is quite a group of Chrysler New Yorker fans including Fletch.

Another American Classic is Alan's 1957 Buick Century purchased 5-6 years ago from a previous notable owner - Andrew Bogut, who was the former President of his Car Club and still an Ambassador. Alan is still working on the chrome work. He said, like all of the big American cars, they are hard to stop and don't corner well, but cruise beautifully. 

Next is a striking 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, featuring a 427 Tripower motor and 4-speed transmission. Owned by Richard for 13 years and is in original condition. Richard admits that he has done nothing to the car other than clean and maintain it. 

Finally, there is Ken with his 1965 Ford Thunderbird in striking white with oxblood red interior. A project car completed over 15 years, Ken started the project with his son, but eventually completed by himself.
