Dane Ballinger Tribute - Ballinger Transport: Classic Restos - Series 57
Fletch is in Bathurst, New South Wales, to cover a story about Dane Ballinger, a respected figure in the transport and freight industry. Tragically, Dane lost his life doing what he loved, leaving behind his wife Danielle and their four children: George, Sam, Matilda, and Lucy. His legacy lives on through his company, Ballinger Transport, established in 2004 when he purchased his first truck.
Dane's unwavering passion for trucks and the transport sector led to the growth of an impressive fleet of prime movers and trailers serving the eastern seaboard of Australia. Ballinger trucks were known for their stunning presentation, and his Kenworth trucks became the envy of the industry. Dane's fantastic attitude and ability to work collaboratively played a key role in building his successful freight and logistics company.
Danielle, Dane's wife, reminisces about their early days. They met as teenagers living nearby and quickly became inseparable, sharing a deep bond over their love for trucks. Danielle describes Dane as trustworthy, a great husband, an amazing father, and a passionate businessman. From a young age, he showed an affinity for trucks, drawing them as a boy and dreaming of being part of the industry. His uncle Erwin inspired this passion by allowing Dane to accompany him on truck runs when Dane was old enough.
At 21, Dane began his journey with a cement tanker that he had purchased. Over the years, as the company evolved and added various freight services, he quickly expanded his fleet. Over time, he collected several iconic Kenworth trucks showcasing his deep love for trucks and the industry. With the continued growth of his business, Dane was excited about the direction his company was heading. In 2019, he invested in a T900 Kenworth. Tragically, after spending Father's Day with his family that year, it would be the last time they would see him.
Dane's passing left a tremendous void not only within his family but also among his friends and colleagues in the transport industry. Fortunately, the business continued thanks to the unwavering dedication of his best mate, Blake Lawrence. He stepped in to help run the company alongside his brother, Kell, and their father, John. Their collective support has meant the world to the family during this challenging time.
Blake reflects on what Dane meant to those close to him. He remembers him as a good friend and a standout figure in the industry, fostering strong family bonds among their wives and children. Dane’s memory lives on through the values he instilled in those around him, continuing to inspire his friends and family.
Although nothing can replace Dane Ballinger, the resilience of his family and friends ensures that his legacy will endure, rooted in the passion and love he brought to the world of transport. It is a heartfelt story from his family, friends and work colleagues.
