Classics from Jaguar & Mercedes-Benz: Classic Restos - Series 44
Fletch ventures far and wide to reveal interesting motoring enthusiasts and their classic cars, this time it's to Bowral in the Southern Highlands of NSW to see one of the all-time British classics. The E Type Jaguar was claimed to be 'the greatest sports car of all time' by none less than Enzo Ferrari. Nick, the owner, has had many Jaguar models over time but from a very young age when living in the UK, he always aspired to one day have an E Type Jaguar like the ones he saw touring around the English countryside. Nick is now the proud owner of a 1969 E Type Jaguar 4.2 2+2 model and loves the styling and originality of the design considered to be unsurpassed when launched and to many still is today. The E Type Jaguar is the iconic British sportscar and recognised around the world.
Fletch then travels to Goulbourn in NSW to uncover another classic. This time from Germany a 1966 Mercedes-Benz 250SE Coupe (W111 Model) that features a 2.5-litre fuel-injected engine with an overhead cam, four-wheel disc brakes, and 4-speed automatic. Owner Rod has undertaken a full nut and bolt restoration beginning back in 2005, and the result is a magnificent Concours condition car that he enjoys today. When he takes it out, he always parks it close by so he can see it, firstly to protect it but also so he can admire the lines of the car and his handy work.
