Biggest Ever Kenworth Klassic 2023: Classic Restos - Series 53
Fletch attends the Kenworth Klassic, Australia's largest Kenworth Show, in Clarendon, NSW. The event brings together nearly 500 Kenworth trucks and is a celebration of the shared love of these trucks by drivers, their families, and the whole trucking community. There are no prizes; it is just a gathering of people who appreciate these vehicles.
Truck driving is a hard and dangerous livelihood, but they wouldn’t have it any other way. Generations of the same family have driven trucks, and this event is a tradition they look forward to every year. Some have driven 6-7 hours to attend the annual event in Clarendon on Saturday, only to drive the same distance back on Sunday, so they can be ready for work on Monday.
Kenworth trucks come in all shapes. sizes and configurations and Fletch tries to capture them all. Despite the high mileage they clock up every day, most of the trucks are in pristine condition, you can see their owners take great pride in them. The event showcases restoration projects and trucks maintained in their original, unrestored condition, providing a glimpse into the history of road transport in Australia.
Chappo and Bruce Gunter, who organize the event, claim that the Kenworth Klassic in Clarendon is the biggest truck event in Australia, based on a per capita basis. It surpasses even the largest all-truck event in the USA, which is held in Iowa and features 1,100 trucks from a population of 300 million. The Kenworth Klassic, on the other hand, attracts nearly 500 Kenworth trucks from a population of 25 million, making it an impressive event.
As usual, Fletch interviews four owners to get their stories and impressions of the Kenworth Klassic for 2023.
