Best of Classic Restos - Part 1: Classic Restos - Series 43
Fletch has delved into the Classic Restos archives and replaying some of the best stories over time. This week we have three extracts from the archives.
Pacific Bus Museum in Freemont, California.
This museum is home to 24 classic buses either fully restored or in the process of restoration. Ron from the museum talks Fletch through a range of beautifully restored coaches. Including a 1945 Early 60's Greyhound featuring a 4-cylinder engine and 4-speed mechanical transmission and a 1955 GM Transit Bus with a 6-cylinder engine and 4-speed mechanical transmission.
Wes Myrick the Lincoln Collector, Michigan.
Fletch stops over in Grand Rapids, Michigan to catch up with a spritely gentleman of 92 years (now sadly departed) to view his collection of cars & classic Americana memorabilia. Wes talks about his life and cars, 45 years running the local gas station and how it has always been filled with cars and anything automotive, at one point he owned 100 cars. Wes provided us with the quote for the day 'Happiness is a full tank of gas'.
Mobsteel, Detroit.
Mobsteel is one of the top custom car builders in the US. Taking Detroit vintage steel, big body cars of the '50s, '60s and '70s the likes of Lincoln's and Cadillac's and transforming them into menacing modern-day machines, celebrating America's automotive history.
Adam, the owner of Mobsteel, talks about the origins of his custom car shop and the transformation from building cars to owners specs to building their own custom cars under the Mobsteel brand. Adam who grew up in the automotive manufacturing industry, reflects on its demise in the USA, a story that Australians are only too familiar with. There was a market for steel wheels, but no manufacturing resource. So they started a wheel company, Detroit Steel Wheels, to support the automotive industry workers, suppliers and the big three manufacturers in the US. The company services a strong need in the USA and a growing market around the world for his products.
