1957 Ford Thunderbird

History

This '57 T-Bird has a history... and has been around. She had been raced hard before I purchased in 1968 (I was 16). New and original in the 50's. Raced in the 60's and 70's. Restored to original (Concourse except for Conolly leather interior and radial tires) in 80's. Maintained original in 90's, 00's, 10's. In 2021 began "maximum performance and beauty" program for TARGA Tasmania, Baskerville Historics, Domain Hill Climb, Eaglehawk Neck Hill Climb...

Modifications

In 2021 and 1922 began "maximum performance and beauty" program. Rear suspension: Added additional leaf spring, replaced all bushings and retainer plates, Custom Koni shocks all around. Front suspension: Built custom stiffer coil springs, and replaced all bushings. Added American Racing alloy wheels. Engine: Pulled, dipped, bored, new pistons. Heads: New aluminium heads with roller rockers. Transmission completely rebuilt and reinforced. Complete rewiring. Body taken back to bare metal, faired, etched, epoxy coated, and painted. Fun project.
