A couple of weeks ago my totally reliable 12 year old Porsche finally did something wrong. The driver side window regulator, not the motor, broke. As I had the time and tools, I decided to do the job myself. I bought an OEM regulator. It was more expensive than an aftermarket item but likely to have fewer surprises during the installation or afterwards. The structure of the door was complex but logical. It was essentially three layers; the door card, then a screwed on aluminium panel(first photo) holding the airbag, window motor, harnesses and other pieces, and finally the door shell with the window regulator. The surprise was a module attached to the window motor that was clearly marked 'Made in Australia'. It was great to see a local part in my German car.
