On the "pillar visibility" thing - seems to be a "thing" with new cars that you don't need to see out of them. Styling is more important. My 70's cars - backing up you can see the ground through the back window within about 3 metres. NO blind spots. But new cars with high rear windows (fashion) - can't see a thing. Oh well; good excuse for lane departure/sensors/cameras......... How about a car you can just see out of? The pillar thing above - my Chrysler 300 isn't a bad car, but the pillars are huge; and added to that; the mirrors/mirror base is ENORMOUS. So much so you can hide a large SUV in it. You evolve so that you move your head either side of the blind spot at certain angles otherwise you WILL hide the Titanic. Bizarre. Biased Aussie Motor Mags and Holden? I stopped buying Wheels magazine when the first Commodore (with it's by then ancient red motor) was in a 5 way comparo with a Rover, a Volvo and two other Euro's. They closed by saying "WE didn't start out trying to find the best car in the world - but it ends up.............. we did......." Really? I had just hired one, and couldn't believe how gutless, thirsty and cramped it was. I was recently in a Dr's office and read a wheels column. "All that mumbo....... bent 8 lump........ tranny........ hoops......... cookie cutters..........." I thought it was an American teen mag. Not missing much. :-)
