The story goes GM's Chuck Jordan goes for a drive past the Chrysler plant August 1956 and he sees Chrysler's futuristic 1957 model cars behind the fence. He tells others in his organization. I suppose the 1957 GM cars were ready, and they knew what GM was planning for 1958. At the time there was no great panic, so they were going to tidy up the 1958 cars for 1959, until they saw Chryslers 1957 effort. BIG PANIC!!! Completely new cars were quickly planned for 1959. Nothing was too outrageous. True story or absolute BS? In June 1957 Pinninfarina showed 2 mock up bodies of of a shortened short wheelbase 1959 Buick 2 door, 2 seater hardtop sporty car. One car had slightly different tail fins. Not only were they the 1959 Buick, but the side styling was the 1960 Buick. One of the Buick XP75 was scrapped I don't know if the other has survived. They were fully operational vehicles. Don't tell me Pinninfarina did not have something to do with the 1959 GM cars.
