As a former P76 owner I have long held the view that those whom labelled the vehicle a lemon probably never drove one, let alone own one. For me, at that period of my life, I kept the P76 for a record five years. I made a few small modifications to the vehicle. I fitted CD ignition, full recovery cooling system, lightweight alloy wheels with decent tyres and air adjustable shocks to the rear. I lived in Richmond NSW at the time and made frequent trips to Taree. Many a Holden and Falcon driver found that the P76 was every bit a match for them through the Wooton Bends. The 4.4 litre V8 was silky smooth and the Borg-Warner auto was a good match. Sadly, I listened to Peter Wherret and bought a new 5 Speed 2.6 litre Sigma to replace the Leyland. To this day I regret that decision. As I have noted on the photograph attached, which is from my album, the P76 was a better car than the reputation suggests. These days I have to be satisfied with a model of the vehicle.
