The Lucas parts bin was used enough times in the UK, with the Aston Martin DBS using Hillman Hunter taillights (and Mk II Cortina front indicators/parking lights) and Rootes making use of the Hunter wagon tail-lights for the Sunbeam Rapier. BMC did a fair bit of mix and matching, with the idea of reducing the amount of parts inventory. As an aside, who knew that the original XJ6 shares its exterior door handles with the Austin 1800 and later, the Triumph Dolomite?
