The Wolseley 4/44 might be another contender for a 1952 debutante as it was first shown at the 1952 London Motor Show. Its release was brought forward as the older 4/50 was dying on its feet, so the MG Magnette with the B-Series engine was delayed until 1953. Both styled by Gerald Palmer who was also responsible for the Jowett Javelin, and the later Wolseley 6/90 and Riley Pathfinder. The 4/44 might be treated as a 1953 model, but the sales literature was printed in September '52. It was 'powered' by the old MG XP-Series 1250 cc engine.
