In what must be the strangest copy cat ads, is the Soviet Union replicated an Australian piece of artwork. The Valiant steering wheel was used in a small flyer printed by Chrysler Australia for the AP5 in 1964. Intourist, the Russian tourist bureau printed this brochure promoting driving your car on certain set roads throughout the country. I picked this up in 1972 when we drove there. To the best of my knowledge, the AP5 steering wheel artwork was never used anywhere else including the US. As an aside, another brochure, 'Tour the USSR by Car' the wheel of one of their own was used, an M24 Volga. Inside is a pic of one of their camping sites complete with an Austin 1800 and of all things, an Oldsmobile Toronado towing a large caravan. One wonders what the Russians made of either of those two cars.
