There are many great designers, many of them Italian. Of the Americans and not wanting to discount Bill Mitchell, I would include the Pontiac maestro, Jack Humbert. He was the mastermind of the great decade of Pontiac design during the 1960's, including the 1963 GP, the entire 1965 lineup, the 1968 GTO, the '69 GP and the '70 1/2 Firebird to mention a few, none of which has ever been surpassed. Jack (on the left) with Chuck Jordan.
Yes Silvercloud, the 1960s is widely embraced as the greatest era of Pontiac design and it's not hard to see why. And it ended with (in my eyes at least) one of the best-looking US muscle cars ever made. The 1970-1973 Firebirds still raise my pulse each time I see one. A wonderful legacy, Mr Humbert.
