Another little-known incident during the 1966 Bathurst 500 proved how tough those VC V8 Valiants really were. One of the drivers, Digby Cooke, overcooked his entry to Hell Corner one lap, went off into a ditch and almost rolled the car (see image below). Yet when he returned to the bitumen, the car was not damaged in any way and powered home to that historic 1-2. Amazing.
