The Studebaker Lark was also a prominent competitor in the Armstrong 500, at both Phillip Island and Bathurst, with an unbroken string of appearances from 1961 to 1968. Although the powerful and fast American car came close to an outright victory on two occasions, it was haunted by feeble brakes and poor wheel strength. It was a shame someone like Harry Firth wasn't in charge of the local Studebaker effort because no-one built a 'series production' car like Harry in those days!
