Following the removal of all the front suspension bushes and ball joints I again turned my attention to the steering box. I could adjust most of the slackness out but more concerning was the coarseness when turning the input shaft. Off the box came. It is held in by three bolts which will go in the scrap heap with the other front suspension fasteners. I opened the box to find one of the ball races had split apart. Within the greasy lube were a couple of ball bearings and pieces of metal. I gave the contents a quick clean today but will spend more time on that before creating a very clean workspace for reassembly.
