I remember with a sense of disbelief when the British started grafting double headlights onto cars that were never designed for them in the first place. Jensen was probably the most controversial by cutting holes into the front of the 541 to end up with the CV8. The 1960 Humber Super Snipe Series III just looked heavy and out of place compared with their earlier counterparts. They may have been Britain’s first car to feature quad lights. Same with the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud and Bentley S Series. They were smooth and elegant, and I think beautifully proportioned until the less attractive front of the Series III arrived in 1962. I think the first British car designed to have the double headlight system would have been the Mark III Ford Zodiac. I might add - the '58 Corvette didn't need double headlights - the '57 was almost perfect......
