I'm positive I was at this event in 1963. REMEMBERING A DUSTY HERO Barry Robinson – New South Wales Speedcar Driver (Midgets) DIED ON THIS DAY – 30 November 1963 Australian speedcar star Barry Robinson died in consequence of an accident at the Speedway Royale in Sydney, state of New South Wales, Australia, also called Sydney Showgrounds. It happened on Saturday, 30 November 1963 night, during a speedcar - as midget cars are locally known - meeting at the track. Barry Robinson, 23, was involved in a eight-car pile-up during the 14th lap of the feature race, in front of the pit stands. His car overturned at high speed and bounced backwards into the safety fence. Robinson passed away on the way to St. Vincent's Hospital in Sydney, from severe head injuries.
