I grew up in a rather large 'town' called Sydney (LOL) but out in the 'burbs we'd often see rare and unusual cars. One that sticks in my mind was an early 1950s Bristol 401 like the one picture here. It was owned by old friends of my grandma who lived nearby, so I'd often see it parked on the street when they were regular visitors during the 1970s. I distinctly remember its polished aluminium bodywork, which was slowly revealed over time as the owner patiently removed its many layers of paint. I was always fascinated by that car, as it looked most exotic compared to the usual Ford/Holden/Valiant family car offerings which dominated Aussie suburban landscapes at the time.
