At the time I felt the same way David. I was torn really, because as much as it annoyed me that Holden had managed to get approval to run a 7.0 litre V8, from a pure enthusiast's point of view I thought those 427 Monaros were awesome things. I'll never forget the deep booming roar of their engines. It's a sound unique to large capacity V8s and 7.0 litres seems to be the entry point, like Ford GT40 Mark IIs (below), McLaren Can-Am cars and 1960s NASCARS. Music to my ears!
