Holden's success during the FE/FC model cycle was staggering, given that roughly every second new car sold in Australia at that time was a Holden! I agree with your assessment of the FE wagon that 'it was one of the best-looking four door wagons of the fifties’. I've always loved it and its handsome ute and panel van siblings too. A golden era indeed.
