Race tyres 1968 style, Michelin XAS. One of the tweaks employed by Bruce McPhee to win the Hardie Ferodo 500 in 1968 was to buff the tread of his XAS tyres down to minimise tread squirm. He drove from Wyong to Bathurst and completed the race on a single set. He had evidently driven down to compete in the Sandown three hour on the same tyres a couple of weeks earlier. Series production racing at its best.
