This Austin Maxi started off as a normal hatch until something dropped onto the back of it before it was delivered to its first owner. The dealership apparently converted it to a ute and lengthened the wheelbase. The present owner told me the canopy came straight off an HQ Holden ute, with the Maxi being wide enough (just) to accept it without much modification. The first year I saw him at Christchurch Swap, he was towing a trailer and it was full of stuff to sell. The next time I saw him, he was using it as a camper.
