Traded my MGB on my first Alfetta in 1974 (my first brand new car) & sold it at wife's insistence 4 years later after horrendously expensive gearbox/clutch issues. After a Kent engined TE Cortina Ghia, a Lancia Beta Coupe, a Fiat 124 BC Sport, a VB Commodore (kids!!) & a BMW 2002 Touring, I bought my second Alfetta (1982 2.0 l) & have had Alfas ever since. Two 75s - 1985 & 1986 2.5s followed, then a 164 but was a bit too big for me. Great car though. I still have the 75s as they're just great road cars & couldn't bear to part with them. Was going to make one really good one from the two, but will possibly refurbish both My daily driver is a 2000 Alfa156, I have a 1999 model for spares, a 2003 JTS Selespeed Wagon to carry stuff, a 1976 Alfetta 1.8 re-engined with a 2.0 l motor & my son is currently restoring a 1974 Alfetta which is using the engine from my 1982 2 litre Alfetta. Yes, they can be a bit fragile, & prone to electrical glitches, but regular servicing & maintenance will reward a competent driver in ways that most of today's cars simply cannot. If only I could afford the new Giulia............(sigh!!!)
