After climbing the Mount Lofty hills on the freeway out of Adelaide in the late 70's I always gave my 302 XB Fairmont GS its head on the downhill run to Murray Bridge - and boy did it fly! The same scenario presents itself driving from Hobart to Geeveston for the annual Shannons Classic Car Show but these days (aged 75) the drive down the Huon Valley in my VB Commodore offers far more than the need for speed ever did.
