Nice historical account SY. I well remember the Wheels article covering the Brock/Perkins Le Mans ‘assault’ in 1984 sharing a Porsche 956. Nowhere in that lengthy and detailed account was it mentioned that Brock was several seconds per lap slower than Perkins. He just could not come to terms with that car and was seriously off the pace, but such was the reputational protection Brock enjoyed from his adoring Aussie media at the time that such an important fact was conveniently omitted. Not only by Wheels but all other media reports I read about that race. It was only years later I found out about this lack of editorial integrity and as a long-time Wheels reader it left a bad taste.
