Loved the story, and the photos. I have followed the Bates/Taylor exploits with interest, and felt quite sad when the GT4 was dropped in favour of the smaller, (read less impressive), Corolla equivalent, but they were all going the smaller, more nippy way by then I guess. I am still the proud owner/driver of a 01/1990 ST185 version GT4, and still lovin' it..! It is entirely standard except for a new steering wheel, and a repaint job 6 years ago, because the clear duco coat was breaking down and spoiling the whole appearance. The new paint job, done by someone who appreciates these older cars, is better than the original new paint, thanks to better paint technology. It now looks and goes like new again, as the upholstery etc still does look like new, and the mechanicals are in excellent shape. Iv'e just been careful, that's all. I'll see if I can post a couple of pics... Frankly, although later versions of the GT4 had more performance, in terms of looks on the road, I still think my model looks the best, and there's damn few of the others around now anyway. But of course I'm a bit biased...
