If true 'classics' are judged by their collectable value then I think 1992 was very significant given that the McLaren F1 was launched that year. According to a recent Hagerty report, since 2011 the values of this V12 supercar (only 106 built) have 'quintupled' (five-fold increase) from around USD$4 million back then to around USD$22 million now. Hagerty forecasts that if the F1 continues on its price trajectory it will surpass even the Ferrari 250 GTO in value by the end of this decade. Who'd have thunk it?
