Great piece David. You have also echoed my exact thoughts on the E type styling. But as I have said before, a heap of people love it like no other and from what I understand it offered performance/price better than anything. A Ferrari 250 GTO of the same era ('62 and admittedly a much more rare, competition type car not to mention very expensive in period) does this type of look (long bonnet, short rear) better than anything.
