I would have to nominate Hans Ledwinka as an eccentric and creative genius for the ground-breaking rear-engined V8 cars he created during his time as chief engineer with Czechoslovakian marque Tatra in the 1930s. Tatra was arguably the first manufacturer to create a commercially successful automobile that embraced aerodynamics as the major influence in its design. These extraordinary streamlined models are renowned as much for their cutting-edge design as their infamous high-speed handling flaws. When compared to contemporaneous rivals in the 1930s, these cars looked like something from another time - and another planet! Amazing. If anyone's interested in knowing more, I wrote a detailed history of the Tatra Streamliners as part of the Super Models series of articles by JW and me: https://club.shannons.com.au/club/news/super-models/tatra-v8-streamliners-futuristic-fast-and-flawed/
