I can't think of a more inspiring founder and figurehead for a new car company than Holden racing hero Peter Brock when he established his HDT Special Vehicles road car division in 1980. Although Brock often admitted he did not have a clue about business, he surrounded himself with enough people who did and quickly created a booming enterprise. It dovetailed with both GM-H and his dealer-backed race team operations so neatly that it appeared to be a match made in heaven. How Brock then managed to destroy all of that only seven years later was an astonishing tale. Worthy of a book, in fact, courtesy of Bill Tuckey.
