AAACV8 thanks for asking, my first Kombi (no.1) (sky blue colour) was a 1971 model Van, with the 1600 VW Engine and I just loved it. I was at the North Coast one day and a feller recognised my Kombi and said his mate had taken it round Australia Twice before he sold it. I paid $3,600 for it. It drove beautifully. Brilliant Gearbox, carted all my Music Gear effortlessly and was a 'Mobile Bedroom' for camping times, with an 'ice chest', gas camper stove and 12 volt Coffee percolator, and even a tiny B & W TV which I still have, (audio only for radio stations now) I would come home from a gig, pay the babysitter (who lived next door) put my two kids who were still asleep, into the Kombi and drive to Surfers and open the sliding door for the kids to wake up to the rolling surf ! Ah, those days ..... I played a gig at "Thommos Tavern" at Alexandria Headlands back in the 1980's with my band being support to the famous band "Dragon" where the late singer, Marc Hunter, shouted my band a late dinner at Mooloolaba after the gig. The guys in the band admired my Kombi and couldn't believe how much equipment it could carry.
