jgsheehan, I have to agree with most of your comments; the 504 is questionable though. My brother had two of them after a perfectly good Renault 16. The second 504 had even more auto gearbox problems than the first, and was last seen on a flat-top to be replaced by a reliable VK Commodore. A Renault 12 (1.4 actually) replaced our mum's much-loved Austin 1800 and she never had any major problems with it; a worthy winner of Wheels 1970 COTY. At a recent French car clubs display, there were plenty of odd Renaults to be seen, but not one 12. It must have been the most popular Renault in Australia, but where are they now?
