You're spot-on there Steve. It is a famous image for the reasons you've mentioned. Here's the original GTR version on which the XU-1 image is based. DB often highlights similar fiddles by OEM art departments in his Retroautos reviews, in getting more than one use out of a photo or illustration. I guess in this case the XU-1 didn't justify its own photo shoot, given Holden rarely took photos of XU-1s in standard road-going trim.
