The Tesla Semi Delivery Event showed today. It is a very futuristic looking truck. Some points of note were: The tri-motor powertrain has one constant drive unit and two that are only used for acceleration and regeneration/braking. The motor of the constant drive unit, which pushes a nearly 18 tonne load, is the size of a football. Even after a long descent, regeneration means that the brakes are cold. Recharging is made through a cable the same size as the current versions but through cooling will be capable of handling 1 megawatt of power instead of the current quarter of a megawatt. The electrical architecture will be 1000 volts. This system will be going into the Cybertruck and at some point into the other vehicles. The Semi has completed 800km range at maximum load in real world driving from Fremont to San Diego.
