Love these articles.... I have a Stag and a Sprint. Had the Stag for 23 years and the sprint for 16..... although Sprint is laid up now. I only bought it to "get around" while the Stag was off the road being rebuilt. These cars can be reliable.... but lets face it - how many mechanics here looked after alloy heads in 1970? My Stag has been across the Nullabor 7 times return......And just received new (recon) heads and rebore after 400,000 kms - (310,000 of that by me - as from 93 to 2000 was my only car) My Sprint even did Perth Melbourne return in 2003 when I went to pick up the manual gearbox and bits for the Stag conversion to manual. I always went in summer (Xmas) and it is normally 48 degrees out there (top of Eyre Peninsular) - so you CAN make them handle the heat. My Stag does just fine in Perth summer - even in traffic.
