Growing up in the 80's my dream car was a XJS V12 Jag, looked fantastic for it's time. When it came time to buy my 2nd car (in my early 20's). I test drove one (suprised how remarkably cheap they were),. You know how they say you should never meet your hero's incase they dissapoint you. This was the case for me unfortunately.
Slow accelleration due to the Everest 1st gear, bouncy suspension, signs of rust in the wondow sills (and that was before I realised things like electrics were a time bomb waiting to explode). While I think the nostalgia of owing a British classic is great. I suspect the practicalities may leave a lot to be desired for mear mortals like myself.
All that being said, if I had a ridiculous budget a twin turbo Lister jag would still be in my garage, metalic blue please.
