Ponyrider - again the X6 Kimberley/Tasman range was another 'misunderstood' car from "the builders of Rover, Daimler & Jaguar" as the brochure stated. Probably too far ahead of available technology at the time, it was the world's first transverse six, beating the British by about 18 months. There were real problems, but I remember taking a fully restored 20 year old car from Brisbane to Canberra and back. It was smooth as silk and well-maintained versions were great. However, the average owner more used to Holden/Falcon/Valiant ownership wasn't about to spend real money on upkeep. All the attributes of an 1800 but gearbox problems eventually killed it. Those who owned them loved them when they were going, but fell out of love pretty quickly. The warranty claims on it and the Morris 1500/Nomad were the downfall of Leyland Australia, not the P76 as everyone thinks.
