Nothing much new in the automotive world. Rover developed gas turbine cars after WW2 and combined with BRM to build the Rover-BRM car which ran at Lemans 1963-64-65. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rover-BRM And then there was the mythical 1967 Chev Impala fitted with a solid fuel JATO rocket which embedded itself into a cliff wall.
