That's why I like the Bolwell Mark 7 so much. Even though it can't match the futuristic styling of the GTR-X, the overall concept is quite similar in using the Holden six running gear. In fact, my favourite Mk 7 was one built with full XU-1 drivetrain and Sprintmaster wheels! Another very interesting Aussie kit car that may have escaped your memory was the Perentti produced by Custom Performance Modification in Sydney. There was no disguising its obvious Corvette styling cues but it was a genuine 2 + 2 coupe mounted on a Holden One Tonner chassis. They were available as either complete turn-key cars or as self-assembled kits that could be purchased in three stages of completion to suit your budget. I remember seeing one or two in the 1980s and they were wild-looking machines. I'm sure one of these was featured in Mad Max II or III. With that tough One Tonner frame, it would have been well suited to the demands of movie stunt work. Does anyone out there own a Perentti? Or know someone who has one? Would love to know more about them.
