A bit of a list of new cars over the years including cars that I bought for my wife and children. 1983 Mitsubishi Sigma GJ 2.6 manual with optional four wheel disc brakes, upgraded stereo and nicely styled alloy wheels from the GSR model. Looked great in red and served me very well through university and a few years after. 1992 Mitsubishi Magna TR Executive manual with optional alloy wheels and colour coded bumpers. A very refined, well built and solid vehicle. 1995 Holden Commodore VS Acclaim with optional power windows in dark green. A gutsy and refined car but it was jinxed and others loved crashing into it. 1997 Honda Accord VTi-S. Nice car but it was obvious that Honda had stripped out the sound deadening to save money. 1998 Audi A4 sedan in dark blue. The 2.4L, 30 valve V6 was a real gem. I bought this car in the days before anybody knew what an Audi was. 2001 Holden Jackaroo with optional ABS brakes. My children loved the velour covered reclining rear seat. 2002 BMW E46 3 series Executive, in red with a beige interior, light coloured wood trim and optional rear parking sensors. A very sweet car. My wife had it, then me and then my daughter. It is still in Queensland somewhere as I traded it in over there on another new BMW. Should have kept it and I want it back to restore. 2005 Land Rover Discovery 3 V8. When Land Rover previewed this model, I knew that I had to have it. I was about to settle for the much cheaper V6, a Ford 4.0L with three valves per cylinder but thought that I should try the V8 just to be sure. It was instant love and I still have this vehicle. 2009 Mercedes W204 Avantgarde turbodiesel. A smart looking car that had a beautifully cushioned ride. Unfortunately the throttle and transmission were poorly calibrated and on the day it tried to kill me I traded it in as I did not want my wife driving this car. Niggles also appeared when the warranty finished and although probably(hopefully) different now, I have never experienced service as bad as that from Mercedes. 2011 Porsche Cayman PDK. It was my work car for six years. It was good therapy after a long day. I still have it and enjoy driving it in the hills region. 2013 BMW E92 325i coupe. It has an optional pack that includes factory lowered suspension, forged alloy wheels, body skirt/spoiler package and upgraded trim. The small six is syrupy. When I saw it in the showroom it was love at first sight. Out with the Mercedes and in with the BMW on the same day. My wife loves this car. I do not think that I could ever get rid of it. I would probably keep it and buy her another car if it becomes unreliable but there is little else that is this stylish. 2013 Opel Astra coupe. A pleasant little car that was bought for a bargain price. I needed a floor shift manual to teach my son to drive in. 2015 BMW F22 coupe in dark blue with a cream interior. It showed that BMW could still make a stylish coupe. I have replaced the brakes and yesterday the tyres for what has been a reliable little car for my daughter. The run-flat tyres give me peace of mind, as it happened. 2017 Holden Commodore SS-V Redline in metallic orange. A hot car but a year later my dream car became available and the market was such that I was able to trade it without taking a hit. 2018(2017 build) Holden Commodore Motorsport Edition in Red Hot. The performance and comfort enhancements bought the Commodore up a level. The seats and ride were also much more comfortable for me. This one is staying with me forever. 2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance. An awesome car, remarkable for many reasons but in particular that neonatal Tesla could produce a car so revolutionary and yet so resolved. My son is enjoying this car. 2022 Tesla Model 3 Performance. As above in red. My daily and after nearly 60,000km we are still in the honeymoon period. I have never bought a used car. The two I have were my dear father's last car, a Falcon XF ute and the HQ ute given to me by George, a local legend.
