So that 12 months of P plates and now I’m on an unrestricted licence, thanks to being over 25 and holding a car licence. The big FJ1200 is on historic rego now, so I was finally allowed to ride it. It is immensely fast compared to the little Moto Guzzi. Everything is more precise from the light hydraulic clutch, to the strong brakes and delicate gearshift. It is not a bike to throw around like the Guzzi, more of an unstoppable force like a tsunami. Very different riding experiences, from a grumpy, noisy and crude brawler to a gentleman’s vehicle. They will both be used for very different riding.
