The original one didn't have to comply with modern safety standards though - I love the original Mini but I would not like to have an accident in one. The new Beetle had some weird packaging too - the massive expanse of dashboard to reach the base of the screen as an example. It's a Golf, but worse in almost every conceivable way. Except maybe for the little flower vase.
