The VE showed what the Aussies could achieve. It remains good looking and especially in V8 form drove very well. It is a shame that the planned SUV and coupe variants were vetoed by head office. A Calais V Redline would be my pick. The VEs do not rust and disappear like older Holdens. They will remain remain numerous so I would not buy it as an investment but to drive and enjoy instead.
