that welsh plug story reminds me of my brothers xt 221,which had a rusted welsh plug on a nullabor trip, he used tarzans grip and a 20 cent piece, and drove another 70.000 miles like that, i think all the 250's should have been 2v's as they already had the tooling for it, i suspect ford was doing thier usual been counting by strangling that engine with a 1 barrel strommy i think all the holden engines were too small the 265 hemi is my favourite, in 2 barrel form it had peak torque at 1800 rpm, there was a 4 barrel avs carter but was only offered on the 4door vh pacer, do we remember how much time .effort and money it took to fit bigger valves to an engine? checkout the std 265 head, no room for improvement here !!
