The Edelbrock Carter clones are easier to work with cj429. The problem with this Holley is that the old engine had a savage vacuum leak but instead of fixing that somebody overcompensated the carb settings. I managed to get a throttle cable on it although reaching the attachment point under the dash required harry Houdini levels of contortion and my hands got torn up. Managed to drive it out, turn it around and put it back in with the exhausts facing the garage door so I can tune it properly. One last puzzle was that it started and idled fine without the air filter, but installing it stopped the fairlane from running. It didn’t look dirty from the outside but the inside was completely soaked with oil from when the original engine blew up. New filter fixed that.
